A young single mother came home drunk on Christmas Eve. She placed her infant in bed with her. Christmas morning, she awoke to discover she had suffocated her baby. This was my first call out as a Fire/Rescue Chaplain. I was speechless and stunned. She asked, "Why did God take my baby on Christmas Day?" Whether a person dies of natural or tragic causes, someone in the circle of survivors will ask: "Why did God do this?" Our usual response for those suffering with grief is typically empty and hollow: "I'm sorry for your loss." "She is resting in peace." "He is asleep in the Lord " Or, "God took him to a better place." In mass casualties, suicides, infant drownings and death of all ages and circumstances, someone usually asks the question; "Where was God when my loved one died?" The best person to answer this question is God Himself. God provided the answer to this question in His Word, the Bible. God wants us to know the answer to life's biggest concern: "What Happens to Me when I Die? For the serious seeker, searcher and student this book reveals God's response to our questions: Where did I come from? Where will I go when I die? Will I be asleep or awake and aware? What transpires when I expire?
