Learning to say no to the wrong things, opens us up to say yes to the right things. We see this truth clearly in Scripture: God's commands are always for our good and for His glory--even the ones that are tough for us to follow.
It's impossible to obey God's commands completely (that's why He sent Jesus), but learning self-control is possible. Through the incredible gift of the Holy Spirit, God empowers us to live courageously, with a spirit of "power, love, and sound judgment" (2 Tim. 1:7). Over the next 30 days, we'll study what Scripture says about why self-control is important, what role it plays in revealing our identity, how Satan tempts us, what to do when we feel tempted, and how to live godly, self-controlled lives.
